Water Main Break in Mooresville
Updated: partial service and low pressure returning to some areas.
Mooresville, NC : An unknown number of homes in Mooresville are seeing low water pressure tonight, due to a water main break. Including the Fountains at Mooresville.
Town utilities officials had no information about where the broken main is, but said crews are working on repairing it.
The situation is unrelated to a water issue affecting about 1,400 families in the Point, Harbor and Farms communities along Brawley School Road. The problem occurred early Sunday when vandals damaged a control mechanism for a private water supplier.
A boil water advisory is also in affect for parts of North Carolina.
“The BWA will be lifted when the results of water testing are received which we expect tomorrow,” he said in a statement to the Tribune “Two ‘voice reach’ phone calls were made to customers at approximately 7:40 a.m. and 9 a.m. (Sunday) indicating, in part, that:
Due to the loss of system pressure, a boil water advisory will be effect for your area. No problem has been detected in the water; however, the State recommends as a precautionary measure that customers vigorously boil water used for human consumption for at least one minute prior to drinking, cooking, washing dishes, or food preparation until further notice. Also, any ice made from water which has not been boiled should not be used for drinking purposes.”
Early reports are saying. “Operations staff arrived on-site at 3:50 a.m., investigated and found that The Point office had been broken into and computer control equipment had been stolen which disrupted the system operations,” he said. “Staff restored normal operations quickly and police were notified of the incident. Police arrived at 5:45 am to investigate and gather information.
