Mooresville Comprehensive Housing Strategy Open House
Mooresville began developing a Comprehensive Housing Strategy to ensure the community can meet its future housing needs. One of the many goal’s is to create more affordable housing, for people who work here but live elsewhere. The event is from 5-7 p.m. at the Charles Mack Citizen Center.
- You can make a difference in the future of Mooresville housing.
- Share your housing needs and preferences.
- View information boards and talk to staff.
- Help develop our Town’s Comprehensive Housing Strategy.
Centralina Council of Governments, which is partnering with the town of Mooresville in developing the housing strategy, said the open house will consider:
- What are Mooresville’s current housing needs and gaps?
- What does the community value about its housing and what does it want for the future?
Residents will be able to view open house display boards and talk to town staffers. Feedback forms will allow people to share their housing needs so their input can be incorporated into the process, the officials said.
The Mooresville Comprehensive Housing Strategy Open House will be at the Charles Mack Citizen Center on 215 North Main street Mooresville, NC 28115.
Mooresville’s population is projected to double by 2030, “and it’s important to ensure the community can meet the growing needs for senior housing and workforce housing while continuing to attract young families,” said Mayor Miles Atkins.
“A Comprehensive Housing Strategy will help ensure Mooresville provides the housing styles, sizes, price ranges, amenities and locations to meet the demands of residents.”
The Comprehensive Housing Strategy will be developed through analysis of local housing data and a “disciplined stakeholder and public engagement process,” Atkins said. The process will require the collaboration of the Town, the Town’s businesses and residents.
The end result will be a set of Mooresville strategies and actionable “how to” steps to ensure the Town is prepared for future housing needs, Atkins said.
