Google, Inc released YouTube App in Plenty of time for update of ios6
September 11, 2012 Google, Inc has released its very own YouTube application on ITunes. The original YouTube app was designed by Apple and has been a native feature of the Iphone since it came out in 2007. It always has been one of the main applications on the home screen of the Iphone and preloaded with the icon already installed.
It has been known for some time that this feature would be gone as apple is slowly severing ties with Google as it is rumored in many articles, forums, and even by the possible action of Apple no longer using Google Maps but their own mapping system. But let me slow down, more on that in another post.
It is also no secret apple has used YouTube rival Vimeo in its latest Mac Software, Mountain Lion. But the great news is that the new YouTube app which is available now should get more videos due to the lack of restrictions on advertising.
In the beta (test) release of iOS 6 www.apple.com/ios/ios6/ for the programmers and developers we noticed the YouTube app was gone and wondered when the solution would be resolved. I’m sure you as well as me would rather have an app to access YouTube than to use safari or any other web browser to do it. Although, I know a few people who used to because they didn’t like how the App was being run for the last 5 years and felt like they had more freedom using the web version.
Take a look at some screen shots from my Iphone 4s for the new application for the YouTube app and you can find it tracking on the top of the free downloaded apps in the app store. Also you may want the latest version of ITunes .
Just like any change, and after 5 years we all need to get used to the new YouTube mobile app. But I am excited it’s here. Hey it’s Google, why wouldn’t they knock it out of the park. I’m sure we will start to see the advertisements from Google starting soon to inform their users not to rely on Apple to put its app automatically on their Iphones for them. Although I have seen some data that shows the native YouTube application will remain on any device not upgrading to the new iOS 6 operating system, so not to reduce user experience.
