TOWN MANAGER ANNOUNCES GOLF COURSE OPENING

MOORESVILLE, NC – Town Manager Erskine Smith confirmed today the Mooresville Golf Course will open for business in September. The recently-approved clubhouse will still be under construction but the new road and parking areas will be ready for golfers.

At the June 6 Town Board Meeting, commissioners approved a construction contract for an entry road, parking and construction of a golf course club house, contingent upon approval of financing for the project by the North Carolina Local Government Commission (LGC) and subject to finalizing of installment financing for this project to SIMCON Company, LLC for an amount not to exceed $4,841,992.25. On June 7, the North Carolina LGC approved the Town’s application to secure $4 million in installment financing. On June 8, the Town pre-closed on the $4 million installment financing.

“The course has been redesigned, the financing has been secured, and the construction for a new road and club house will begin next week,” said Smith. “I am ready for this community to play our new course. Kris Spence did a masterful job reframing the course and keeping the character, heritage and tradition of Donald Ross to make Mooresville an enjoyable challenge for all levels of golfers.”
Recently, the Town hired Luke Steimke as the new golf course manager. Steimke is a licensed PGA Professional with progressive experience in private/semi-private country clubs and public courses. Previously, he worked for a company that specialized in challenging turnarounds of private clubs and public courses throughout the United States and served as General Manager for two public clubs in Florida.

“We are very excited to have Luke on our golf leadership team,” added Smith. “I am certain he and our Head Golf Professional Jeremy Elliott will ensure Mooresville Golf Course is a regional golf destination and will offer a superior golf experience for our guests.”
