Charlotte location of P.F. Chang’s China Bistro had a security breach
August 5, 2014-Charlotte, NC – A local P.F. Chang’s China Bistro in Charlotte has officially announced a security breach involving credit and debit cards. The data for branded restaurants across the United States is the latest of many security breaches happening in every country. One of those restaurants is located here in Charlotte, North Carolina.
“We have determined that the security of our card processing systems was compromised, and we have reason to believe that the intruder may have stolen some data from certain credit and debit cards that were used during specified time frames at 33 P.F. Chang’s China Bistro branded restaurant locations in the continental United States. The potentially stolen credit and debit card data includes the card number and in some cases also the cardholder’s name and/or the card’s expiration date,” said P.F. Chang’s.
According to the restaurant, the United States Secret Service alerted P.F. Chang’s on June 10 about a possible security compromise involving reported stolen credit and debit card data. They immediately launched an investigation partnering with third-party forensic experts. P.F. Chang’s confirmed that the investigation is still ongoing, but the security breach has been contained and that they have been processing credit and debit card data securely since June 11, 2014.
Remember it is always a good idea to monitor your credit. There are free services like credit karma. Or the annual free credit report that you can use every 12 months. Some credit card companies also give you this monthly credit report and score. The best defense is a good offense. Be proactive and monitor your accounts.
