Breaking Bad Finale and Lydia’s Ricin Tea
‘Breaking Bad’ finale and the Lydia Ricin Tea predictions have all just rapped up.
September 29, 2013 AMC’s classic Breaking Bad wrapped up Sunday night leaving nothing to question or a fade to black. “Breaking Bad’s” finale including Lydia drinking a cup of ricin tea was all about closure for the fans and characters as well as yes the fans. We all need the little things wrapped up, down to the watch on the phone booth. Yes that’s partially because the promo for the show had Walter White with a wrist watch.
Stop reading this now, Spoiler Alert! Walter White (Bryan Cranston), one of TV’s great protagonists/antagonists, died in “Breaking Bad’s” closing minutes by the bullet (in all probability) fired by the Rube-Golbergian contraption that involved a jerry-rigged M60 that leveled Uncle Jack’s (Michael Bowen) gang, and gave Walter the revenge he has sought for about half of this final season. How perfect that Heisenberg kills Walter White. And yes Jessie finally catches a break, as you watch him driving away in an El Camino.
Jesse (Aaron Paul)? He strangled his tormentor and captor Todd (Jesse Plemons) who met a demise that million’s of fans had tweeted about and sought. There were other major pieces of closure also neatly tied: Lydia Rodarte-Quayle (Laura Fraser), the meth queen-pin, met her gruesome end via a ricin switch that Walter substituted for her beloved Stevia (a creature of habit, Lydia always put it in her chamomile tea.) The sweet revenge was the phone call she placed to Todd and the ring tone “Lydia” played as Walter answers and tells Lydia her time is up.
The last piece of business is that Walter created a fund for his family, to be distributed by his former girlfriend, Gretchen (Jessica Hecht) and Elliott (Adam Godley), the principals of a major firm Walter had helped to create years earlier, Gray Matters Technology. The finale, which ran about 70-plus minutes, ended with the track of the old Badfinger song, “Baby Blue.”
You also get to see badger and skinny pete make a cameo to assist Heisenberg in solidifying that his family receive the money from his old business partners Gretchen and Elliot. They hold up laser pointers so they think hit men will find them if they do not deliver the money.
But the greatest moment of this great finale had to be when Skyler (Anna Gunn), Walter’s wife, asked him why he became a meth lord in the first place. Said Walter: “I did it for me. I was good at it, and . . . I was really alive.”
Don’t worry fans there is more TV on its way with spinoffs, especially from Saul the lawyer or Bob Odenkirk.
To all of the cast and crew, thanks for the hard work over these past few years. And for all the fans, please tell us your favorite quote or episodes in the comment section below.

The network says an expanded one-hour version of its “Talking Bad” discussion after-show delivered 4.4 million viewers.
The drama’s popularity has soared during its five-season run, as Breaking Bad fans took advantage of Netflix. The shows previous record was set last Sunday, when 6.6 million viewers watched at the same time as the Emmys.
