Beer Banned LIRR on St Patricks weekend
Extra trains have been added Saturday to help people get to and from New York City’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade, said the Long Island Rail Road.
The LIRR also said “alcoholic beverages will be banned from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday.”
The extra trains will supplement the commuter service’s regular weekend schedule for Saturday.
The annual parade begins at 11 a.m. Saturday at West 44th Street and Fifth Avenue, marches past St. Patrick’s Cathedral and finishes between 4:30 and 5 p.m. at East 79th Street.
Regular weekend, off-peak fares are in effect, including the Family Fare discount and CityTicket, the LIRR said. The Family Fare program allows up to four children (ages 5 to 11) to ride trains for $1 each (one way) when accompanied by a fare-paying parent or guardian.
“The alcohol ban is systemwide, the LIRR said. Any alcoholic beverage found on trains, stations and platforms will be confiscated by MTA police.”
